TODAY IS THE YAS ISLAND STAGE

Everything in ready for the last stage of Abu Dhabi Tour, hosted by Yas Island on the Yas Marina Circuit track. Official start at 5pm, then 26 laps, the final sprint and the definitive podium

Abu Dhabi, 23 October 2016 – Yas Island is for the second consecutive year under the spotlight during the last stage as title sponsor. Already in stage number 2 the peloton rode beside the most famous landmarks of Yas Island, such as the Yas Waterworld and the Ferrari World Abu Dhabi theme parks, the Yas Mall, the largest Mall in the Abu Dhabi and the second in the UAE. Today everything is concentrated on the Yas Marina Circuit track with a race of 26 lapes, each of 5.5km with three Intermediate Sprints as we count down to the finale. There will be a special Abu Dhabi Challenge awards ceremony tonight at 7.30pm, at the Final Stage village, with prizes presented for the three fastest riders in each of the following age categories of the Abu Dhabi Tour Challenge, the competition to find the fastest men and women around the 5.5km circuit that registered s good success in three different appointment during October. Yas Island is an emerging entertainment destination within a 30 minute drive of the UAE capital, home to the state-of-the-art Yas Marina Circuit – host to the annual F1™ Etihad Airways Abu Dhabi Grand Prix. At the circuit’s centrepiece is Yas Viceroy Abu Dhabi, a five star, iconic hotel – the only one in the world to straddle an F1 race track being breathtakingly built half on land and half over water. Every week the 5.5km circuit is open to the public for sports activities: the StartYas on Sunday and the TrainYas on Tuesdays, open from 6 to 10pm, encourage cyclist and runners to use the track as a sports facility.

The world’s first Ferrari-branded theme park is home to a winning mix of Ferrari inspired rides and attractions, the biggest Ferrari Store and a range of authentic Italian dining options. Ferrari World Abu Dhabi attractions include the new Flying Aces with the highest rollercoaster loop in the world and the world’s fastest rollercoaster, Formula Rossa, with a top speed of 250kmph achieved in a mere 4.9 seconds.

 

The other them park in the area is the famous Yas Waterworld, inspired by the UAE’s rich heritage of pearl diving through its unique story of ‘The Legend of the Lost Pearl’. The UAE’s first mega waterpark is home to 45 exhilarating rides, slides and attractions – five of which can be found nowhere else in the world. Top attractions are Dawwama – the world’s first hydro-magnetic tornado waterslide, as well as the globe’s first interactive water and laser rollercoaster, the Bandit Bomber.


Another strong point of the Island are the Yas beaches, set on a majestic stretch of white sand, and easily connected to all of the island’s diverse leisure activities. Sun seekers holidaying at any of Yas Island’s seven hotels and hotel apartments can now enjoy complimentary access to Yas Beach.


Set among rolling hills and delicate mangrove plantations, Yas Links Abu Dhabi – designed by Kyle Phillips, the world-renowned course architect – is the Middle East's only true links course.
