Yas Marina Circuit, 11 October 2015 – For the first time ever in a men's professional road race, stage 4 of the inaugural Abu Dhabi Tour (8-11 October 2015), organised by the Abu Dhabi Sports Council in partnership with RCS Sports and Events, will see live on-board bike camera footage available for the live television race coverage.
Two live on-board camera feeds will be sourced from equipment mounted on bikes belonging to riders on the Giant Alpecin and Etixx - Quick Step teams. Two pairs of camera-equipped riders will each ride a shift: the first shift will be dossards 54, Stijn Vandenbergh (Etixx – Quick Step), and 113, Johannes Fröhlinger (Team Giant – Alpecin); the second will be numbers 56, Lukasz Wisniowski (Etixx – Quick Step), and 112, Tom Dumoulin (Team Giant – Alpecin).
The introduction of this new technology has been made possible by an agreement between Velon and RCS Sports and Events (acting on behalf of the Abu Dhabi Sports Council), within a regulatory framework stipulated by the cycling's world governing body, the UCI (Union Cycliste Internationale).
